Blockball
A downloadable game
Balls bounce around while the player attempts to box them into smaller and smaller spaces! Move the cursor with the D-pad, press B to rotate the cursor, and press A to begin building walls in the directions that the cursor is pointing. If the balls hit a wall that is under construction, then it breaks the wall and the player loses one life! Start with as many lives as there are balls. Progress to the next level once at least 75% of the area has been walled off.
Score points for successfully building walls. The larger the area covered in a single go, the more points! Get bonus points at the end of a successfully completed level for lives left, time left, and extra area cleared!

I was looking forward to the update that saves your high score, but the new file is not recognized by playdate v2.7.2. That is, the file does not appear in system>games to download. And I updated to 2.7.2 for this, as prompted
Hmm...not sure why that is. I've made another update to the game. Are you able to get that one?
2.7.3 is out and the game says it needs a system update still to install.
When I sideload this it tells me I need a system update but the Playdate says I’m up-to-date. Does your game need the latest beta operating system to install?
Thanks for telling me! I had built the game with an SDK version that hasn't been released for devices, yet, so I've updated (downdated?) the pdx.zip file with a build that will hopefully work on your device.
That new version works perfectly, thanks!
someone already made a Jezzball clone on Playdate.
It's called Jezzak and its really really good.

I bought Jezzak after reading your comment as I love Qix style games. And you’re right, it’s really good! However, this game offers a slower, more thoughtful version in my opinion which is also really enjoyable.
The only thing I’d like is a pause when your game ends before starting the next one to review your score vs the hiscore.
Thanks for the positive feedback! I think your suggestion would make the game better, so I've made some changes.
There is now a scoreboard between levels and at the end of games. Between levels, the scoreboard shows the level as well as the base, bonus, and total scores. The scoreboard stays until you press A to start the next level. Between games, the scoreboard announces that the game is over, shows the total score, and waits for the player to press A to start the next game.
I also added a level indicator at the top of the screen so you always know what level you're on.
I love these changes, makes it feel like you’re progressing between levels and games :D
